(Rock County, WI) The economic resurgence of the Janesville-Beloit MSA has propelled itself into a Top 10 national ranking, according to a recent monthly scorecard produced by Headlight Data.

For the period of October 2016 through October 2017, the Janesville-Beloit MSA’s employment base increased by 3.2%. This growth rate resulted in an overall weighted rank of #8 among 100 peer small metropolitan locations. This Top 10 ranking was the highest recorded by any Wisconsin metro area, irrespective of population size.

When factoring the area’s job growth ranking against 287 small metros (with less than 500,000 population) during the same time frame, the Janesville-Beloit MSA notched the #22 spot. Meanwhile, the Madison MSA was ranked #22 out of 53 mid-sized metro locations.

The industry sectors recording the most net new jobs for the Janesville-Beloit MSA during October 2016 – October 2017 included: Professional and Business Services, Health & Education Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Manufacturing. During any given month, these types of job openings - as well as others too - can be found by visiting the area's one-stop employment and information portal: www.JobsInRockCounty.com .

Headlight Data, which crunches Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Current Employment Series and Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages data to compare the economic health of U.S. metropolitan areas of comparable population size categories (e.g. Small, Mid and Large), generates monthly and quarterly economic scorecards.
