(Rock County, WI) According to the 2016 Best-Performing Cities index released by the Milken Institute, the Janesville-Beloit MSA earned two Top 10 rankings in the Small Cities category.

For short-term job growth, as measured from August 2015 through August 2016, the area recorded a #6 ranking. Meanwhile, the area earned the #7 spot for its high-tech GDP growth between 2010 and 2015. When all nine components of the index were factored and weighted, the aggregate ranking for the Janesville-Beloit MSA was #32 – which represented the highest ranking for any Wisconsin MSA.

Madison, which was ranked #76 overall in the Large Cities category, also earned a Top 10 spot for its 2014-2015 high-tech GDP growth.   

The Milken Institute’s Best-Performing Cities index measures the following nine statistical components: job growth; wage and salary growth; high-tech GDP growth and specific industry location quotient variables.
