In Rock County hourly wages have increased in 2012 with nearly all companies surveyed providing healthcare and dental coverage, according to findings from a the salary and benefits study released by Rock County 5.0 in conjunction with the Blackhawk Human Resource Association.

The percentage of firms offering profit-sharing as an employee benefit has decreased, presumably due to the recession, but more companies are providing retirement plans, flex spending accounts and wellness programs as part of their benefits packages, according to Rock County Economic Development Manager James Otterstein.

The survey results represent data reported from more than 50 businesses and organizations, including more than 6,000 employees. A third-party human resources consulting firm administered the survey through a web-based platform.

According to the survey, the following are average rates of pay for various positions in Rock County: accounting clerk, $14 - $18.55 an hour; administrative assistant, $14.19 - $20.57; engineering technician, $18.75 - $27.19; engineer, $24.69 - $37.25; senior engineer, $28.50 - $41.24; registered nurse, $23.20 - $42.61; and human resource manager, $30.38 - $40.84.

Otterstein said the average general salary budget increase was 2.1 percent. Meanwhile, the average pay range adjustment, increases to formal base pay ranges, was 1.8 percent.

All employers surveyed indicated that they provided health care coverage for their employees and approximately 96 percent offered dental coverage, as well. And more than 86 percent of those responding noted that they provide employee flexible spending accounts.

Nearly 65 percent of the respondents indicated that they provided some form of tuition reimbursement.
